Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with twelve other kids. Her vivid imagination allowed her to escape the pressures of daily life. The songs she wrote were composed before she learned to write or read. When she got her first guitar at the age of eight, she started to play at radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. That same year, she recorded her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. In high school, she made her name locally but dreamed about an even bigger stage. In 1964, the day after her high school graduation the singer moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner was in need of a new singer at around this time. Parton got her first gig in the year 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. But she resigned from the show in 1974 when her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton's song, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), hit the number. 1 spot after they separated. The first time a song hit the top spot.
